PBC Profiles

DSC01181

This area is dedicated to David Challinor, Stuart Law, and Chip Fawcett, three beloved and admired members of Potomac Boat Club who passed away in 2008.  We saw in them, not just the spirit of our club, but the spirit of rowing. They are truly missed.

About PBC Profiles
One evening in 1869, seven men with a deep passion for the sport of rowing sat in a bar in Georgetown to map out a new home base for competitive athletes to be located on the banks of the Potomac River. Although their plans were careful by design, they never could have imagined that their Potomac Boat Club would still exist 140 years later, much less, thrive.

Today, Potomac Boat Club stands as one of the oldest and most respected rowing clubs in the world. Through storms, floods and fire, times of war, and profound social change, the indomitable competitive spirit that is the legacy of the men of 1869 continues to burn bright throughout Potomac’s membership.

In PBC Profiles, we present a member of our club who is making a mark in the sport of rowing, is already a legend, or is just someone we think you would like to know. By learning a little more about each other, we hope to discover what makes us all uniquely Potomac.
