Cal needs you. We all need you!

Looking for a worthwhile holiday volunteer opportunity, but find that you’re always down at the boathouse?

Nothing will feed your soul and change the world for the better this holiday season like helping out an injured Marine’s family, becoming a Court Appointed Special Advocate for children or even lending some hours to clean up our beloved Potomac River, but PBC’s House Committee has a whole mess of things you can do while you’re at the Club anyway that might at least give you a temporary warm and fuzzy.

The House Committee is responsible for keeping our 100 year old boathouse ship-shape, safe, and essentially, from falling into the river.  Committee Chair Cal Sutliff leads the ongoing effort, with individual projects spearheaded by other PBC volunteers, like you and me, and anyone else who has the skill or time.

Right now, Cal is asking for folks to step up and take care of some unbelievably important tasks.  Many high profile, action-packed opportunities are still up for grabs, including the following:

  • Paint area over double doors to 8’s Bay. (Wow!)
  • Repair a crack in the concrete apron. (Crack!)
  • Rerun lightning ground cable so members don’t trip over it. (This is perfect for you!)
  • Replace tiles in the men’s shower area. (Now, Ladies, please …)
  • Install vinyl siding on the 2nd story deck patio shed. (Does it get more exciting than that?!)
  • Install waterfront towel drying system. (Yes! It does!)
  • And many, many more!

You’ve probably seen updated projects lists coming through the Yahoo group listserv from Cal, so you know your friends and teammates are volunteering in droves. Don’t be left behind! If you are interested in joining them, drop Cal an email message or just sign up on the latest project list posted on the bulletin board at the boathouse.

We’ll all love you for it!
